A Nursery With a Difference

Ms. Jan, Managing Director

Holding an MA (Level 7) qualification in Childhood Studies and Early Years, Ms. Jan brings over 20 years of experience supporting children and families through nurseries and family partnership service. As Managing Director of Mini Scholars, she combines her expertise and hands-on experience to lead the nursery with care and dedication.

Ms. Jan saw a growing need for something different. Too many children were living sedentary lifestyles, spending long hours indoors and in front of screens, missing out on the active, enriching experiences that build lifelong confidence and wellbeing.

In her work with families, Ms. Jan saw first-hand the importance of creating positive environments for children and parents. This inspired the vision behind Mini Scholars: a nursery that supports children’s development while also empowering families to build healthy, happy homes.

Not every child has the chance to take part in activities such as horse riding or outdoor adventures, but at Mini Scholars those gaps are bridged. Children go on nature walks, bus rides, and community visits, flowing freely between indoors and outdoors every day. With no screen time, plenty of movement, and fresh, balanced meals, the focus is on healthier habits from the very start.

The need is clear: around 1 in 5 children in the UK are overweight or obese by the time they start primary school. Mini Scholars exists to change that trajectory — helping children grow fitter, healthier, and more resilient through play, curiosity, and active learning in their earliest years. By building these foundations early, children develop healthy habits they will carry with them for a lifetime.
